"Freckles"

We Miss You Terribly Freckles!

A dark cloud blew over the Seidl Ranch on January 31, 2008 when we lost our beloved Freckles in a freak accident!  Unfortunately I don't have all the details, but I can speculate as to what had happen that terrible cold morning.  What I believed to have happen is that something to scare the boys went into there barn when they were all in there in the dark.  I think they had all scurried to run and I believe Freckles was on the side w/the short stub wall.  Trying to get out in a hurry, he must have been the one to hit the wall and shift it out 8 inches.  I believed he slipped and fell on the short cement stub wall and broke ribs and punctured internal organ to make him bleed internally.  When we found him, he looked a little disoriented but no worse for wear and tear w/only 2 superficial scratches on him, and a little scrap inside the nose w/a little blood from it.  Ears were cold and wet, not thinking that the blood would go to the source of the injury at the time.  Took the time to put several layers of socks on his ears to warm and dry them. Went into the house shortly to warm up and found him down.  Called the vet immediately and the neighbor to give me a hand in getting him up.  Within a 1/2 hour he was gone.  He died in my arms at 9:45A that morning.  I'm still looking for answers and why, why this had to happen to our perfect little pony!!

Let's hope heaven will be this better and gentler place for our animals who have made it to the greener pastures before us!

In Memory of
"Sassy"
October 15, 1999 - March 8, 2005

Sassy, you were our angel from up above. Your eyes and face so sweet! Everybody couldn't help but love you!! The girls loved to use you for dog obedience, you were so willing. Oh, what they would ask of you, but never a complaint from you. You came into our lives as a stray, a puppy, left with her mother and 2 siblings out in the cold until someone found you on a cold December day, and by answering an ad you came into our lives.
Now 5 short years later, going to do our daily chores, you running and playing as usual, you came back to the house with a limp. I thought you had twisted or sprained your leg, of all weeks, the week of  Christmas when it got so cold and froze so hard. We figured, give it some time it will heal.
But 5 weeks later brought swelling and concern! We brought you to the local vet for an opinion, as well as antibiotics and pain pills. The next trip brought us to the Manitowoc vet for some X-rays and hope. The leg x-ray showed no deterioration and the chest x-ray was clear, we thought we might be looking at a bacterial infection, so we scheduled a biopsy and got more pain pills to hold you over until then. Biopsy was done on March 2nd and sent off to the lab. Results on March 8th telling us our sweet girl had cancer. We had you put down that day. We couldn't see you going through anymore pain. We love you Sassy and miss you so much. You will always be in our hearts!!

"Dog"
March 1991 to March 25, 2006

Dog came to us as a stray at about 6 months old.  She was always a very happy, friendly dog, and w/us living on a farm, she was a perfect addition.  She managed to get herself in trouble w/my husband on many occasions by chewing on stuff she wasn't suppose to. She was very tolerant w/our young son at the time and then 2 more kids after that.  She was the greatest!!  She has been apart of our lives for 14 1/2 years, 14 1/2 good years!!  She proved herself as a companion, babysitter, rodent control, and buddy.  She will be sadly missed by us all and everyone who knew her.  WE LOVE YOU DOG'!!
