~A Note From Amy~

As some of you know I have struggled with a back problem for more than 20 yrs.  I came to a very sad conclusion when reality sunk in realizing I couldn't go on alone.  My Newfies need and deserve the very best care daily, so I needed to find someone I could trust to help take care of my babies, who better than the person that has been there training, grooming & showing my Newfs for years already. Robin Seidl has agreed to be a partner in A & R Newfoundlands, adding to her already fabulous Newfie family.  Thank you Robin for allowing me to continue owning/breeding champion Newfoundlands.

Thanks,

"We donated Roscoe to the Make a Wish Foundation"

Wish Granted To Little Girl Battling Leukemia                                                        Sept 16, 2009
By George Mallet

BROOKFIELD-Four year old Abby Frank has wide smile spread across her face.  A pretty blond woman is applying makeup to the little girl's perfect features.  Abby is already wearing a tiara and a shimmering dress perfect for royalty.

"This is fun", Abby says with a giggle.

Abby is enjoying an evening at Megan's Enchanted Forest Tea Room as the guest of honor.  It is a party planned by the Make a Wish Foundation, a needed break for a little girl who has battled leukemia for half of her young life.

"It's all we do," Abby's mother, Kerry, says about the regimen of battling childhood cancer.  "It's all encompassing."

Abby's father and sister, Sarah, are also here for the party.  And, while they are all having a blast, the party isn't actually the wish Abby wanted granted.  No, that honor belongs to a gigantic Newfoundland puppy named Roscoe.  Abby wanted a dog more than anything.  "cause I can hug him," Abby says succinctly.

When you are 4-years-old and enduring wretched chemotherapy, tears are inevitable.  Roscoe proved he can help with that problem on the day he met Abby.  She had a crying spell on the long drive home.

"Roscoe immediately started licking her face," Kerry says.  "He licked her face until she stopped crying.  I mean, it was just immediate love."

So it should come as no surprise that Roscoe is here for Abby's princess tea party.  The 115 pound pup has a seat at the table to sample the tea party delights.

Abby's family is optimistic about her prognosis.  Her chemotherapy treatments continue until February.  After that, she will continue to be monitored monthly and treated because the form of leukemia she is battling always comes back.

As for Roscoe, Abby hopes to share her dog with other patients.  She wants to train him as a therapy dog that will make hospital visits.
